It's not a horror game - unless it happens to hit upon one (or more) of your personal fears. Fortnite can be horrific if you're agoraphobic. I've played through Subnautica at least a dozen times and have never once felt fear.

If anything you are the apex predator once you get a Seatruck, and that happens *very* early. Best you can hope for is an initial jumpscare. I don't agree with this. Every game has that loop of Objective > going to objective through unknown things (ie. the freaking game) > success and new Objective. Besides thalassophobia (and big scary monsters, but those are fairly standard in games) there isn't anything in Subnautica that really creates fear.
